Sound masking and audio signals are generated and distributed to the emitters by the Qt X processors. There are eight Qt X devices to choose from depending on the requirements of the space the system is being installed in. The list below gives basic details about the different Qt X devices:
The Qt X 300/300D control module is a three-output network controller that supports installations of up to 36,000 square feet (3,345 m2). The three outputs support active or passive emitters and include two analog audio inputs as well as two network connections for media and control. The Qt X 300/300D is rack or wall-mountable and include a power supply. The 300D additionally supports Dante® sources.
NOTE: The rear of the Qt X 300/300D has the same configuration of ports as the Qt X 600 shown below, but only has 3 sets of outputs to emitters.
The Qt X 600/600D control module is a six-output network controller that supports installations of up to 72,000 square feet (6,689 m2). The six outputs support active or passive emitters and include two analog audio inputs as well as two network connections for media and control. The Qt X 600/600D is rack or wall-mountable and include a power supply. The 600D additionally supports Dante® sources.
The Qt X 800/800D is a plenum-mounted controller that supports a variety of installation types and sizes due to the ability to connect external amplification & speakers directly to the device outputs, and may be configured such that multiple 800/800D devices can support a single zone. This adds a high-level of granularity to the sound masking control. The 800/800D supports connecting 4 Ω or 8 Ω low-impedance speakers and the 4 Ω DS1320 Qt Active Emitters. Each device includes two analog audio inputs as well as two network connections for media and control. The Qt X 800/800D is intended for mounting in a plenum space and requires a PoE+ power supply. The 800D additionally supports Dante streams.
Port #1 supports PoE+ to power the unit
The Qt X 805/805D control module is an eight-output network controller which supports 4Ω or 8Ω speakers and includes two analog audio inputs as well as two network connections for media and control. The Qt X 805/805D controller also supports a variety of installation sizes and types due to the ability to connect external amplification & speakers directly to the device outputs, and may be configured such that multiple 805/805D devices can support a single zone. This adds a high-level of granularity to the sound masking control. The 805/805D supports connecting 4 Ω or 8 Ω low-impedance speakers and the 4 Ω DS1320 Qt Active Emitters. The Qt X 805/805D is intended for rack and wall-mounting and includes a 48v power supply. The 805D additionally supports Dante streams.
Several types of emitters may be deployed in a sound masking system depending on the type of sound masking controller (device) installed.
For Qt X 300/300D & Qt X 600/600D devices, Qt emitters (Passive or Active) must be used. Both may be used in the same system, but each zone must have the same emitter type installed. Both emitter types are 'direct field devices,' meaning the speakers point downward above the listener's head for direct, unimpeded audio signal.
The QT passive emitter is a passive audio loudspeaker device suitable for sound masking and limited output level paging applications. This emitter receives an amplified signal directly from the Qt X via a UTP category cabling infrastructure. Maximum sound pressure levels with this type of emitter are 55 dBA at 1 meter, with a sound masking frequency response of 200Hz to 6.3kHz.
The Qt active emitter is a self-powered audio loudspeaker device suitable for sound masking and paging/background music environments. This emitter contains an internal amplifier which receives the audio signal directly from the Qt X device in addition to DC voltage which powers the emitter. Both power supply and voltage injectors are required for operation in addition to the Qt X device. Maximum sound pressure levels with this type of emitter are 74 dBA at 1 meter with a sound masking frequency response of 125Hz to 8 kHz.
Active emitters are equipped with an amplifier and require a power supply and power injector for operation. The following accessories are designed for use with the active emitters:
Qt Active Emitter Power Injector – This accessory is capable of supporting up to two emitter cabling strings of 25 Qt Active Emitters each (50 Qt Active Emitters total).
Qt Active Emitter Power Supply – Capable of supporting up to Qty (3) Qt Active Emitter Power Injectors with a Qty (1) Injector per output port, for a total of Qty (150) Qt Active Emitters.
Qt X 800/800D & Qt X 805/805D devices must be connected to 4Ω or 8Ω low-impedance speakers or 4Ω DS1320 Qt Active Emitters.
Qt X 805/805D line level outputs may be connected to amplifier channels to power a string of 70V/100V loudspeakers (DS1339 or DS1390).
The DS1320 active emitter is a 4Ω emitter/speaker suitable for sound masking and paging/background music environments mounted flush with an included acoustic tile ring. The DS1320 connects via standard 18 AWG 2-conductor plenum rated cable.
When a DS1320 is selected in the WebUI or QtX Software, a predetermined/proper sound masking spectrum is configured.
See System Design for more information on emitter cabling requirements.
The Qt X controllers have numerous mounting options and accessories, from rack and wall mounting to above ceiling plenum options. See the Qt X Installation Guide and Qt X Controller Accessory Guide for more information.
NPX Paging Stations on the same network as the Qt X controllers are discoverable with Qt X software. Device settings, paging levels, and firmware updates can be controlled once the NPX devices are configured in a Qt X system. Qt X software can also manage page codes and assign them to the appropriate zones within the system. NPX paging stations can be mounted on both horizontal and vertical surfaces. Refer to the Installation and Operation manual for more information on installation and use. (NPX Installation Guide)
With release version 2.3x of the Qt X software, up to 16 NPX paging stations can be configured in a single Qt X system with up to 4 NPX units on each controller.
NPX H1040/G1040 Paging Stations are 4-button convenience paging stations with a handheld or gooseneck microphone for use in Tesira® and Qt X systems. Each features embedded DSP and on-board memory to support stored message playback and customized preambles. The NPX H1040 or G1040 can store four user-configurable page codes and up to 10 prerecorded messages.
NPX H1100/G1100 Paging Stations are 10-button convenience paging stations with a handheld or gooseneck microphone for use in Tesira and Qt X systems. The H1100/G1100 feature embedded DSP and on-board memory to support standard and advanced public address functionalities. The NPX G1100 can store 999 user-configurable page codes and up to 10 prerecorded messages.
